Maple-Flavored Butter Sauce

There are many sugar-free maple-flavored syrups available on the market, some better than others. An alternative to all of these? Melt butter, sweeten it with stevia, add a few drops of maple-flavored oil, and call it delicious. It’s not maple syrup. It’s not fake maple syrup. It’s something else entirely, and it’s very good drizzled over crispy protein waffles.

Maple-Flavored Butter Sauce
Yield: 2 servings, of 2 tablespoons each

4 tablespoons grass-fed butter, melted (vegan: 4 T. coconut cream skimmed from canned coconut milk)
2 drops liquid stevia glycerite
2-3 drops LorAnn Oils Canadian maple oil
1/4-1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum

Whisk everything together. Taste. Add more stevia and/or maple oil drips, depending on your taste. Add 1/4 teaspoon of the xanthan gum…blend… and keep adding little bits at a time until your desired thickness is reached. Drizzle over pancakes, waffles, a spicy Minute Muffin, whatever takes your fancy!
